Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions and answers you may be looking for:

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider. I do not directly bill insurance for therapy sessions with exception for some Medicaid plans.  If you have out of network coverage, you may be eligible for full or partial reimbursement of your session fee, depending on your insurance plan benefits.  I can provide you with a super-bill which has everything your insurance company would need to reimburse you.

What do I need to ask my insurance company to know if I have out of network benefits?

You may check your out of network coverage by asking the following questions:

- Does my insurance cover outpatient mental health / behavioral health individual or family (or both) services with an "out-of-network" provider?

- What is my policy period?

- What is the "allowed amount" per session and the reimbursement rate for mental health services?

- What is my yearly deductible and have I met it yet?

- How will I be reimbursed?

- How long do I have after a session to submit a "superbill" (invoice) for services to be reimbursed?

- How many sessions per year does my insurance cover?

- Is pre-authorization required?

What is your cancellation policy?

All clients are asked to cancel at least with a 48 hour notice prior to their appointment time.  A less-than 48-hour cancellation will result in you being charged the full session fee (not applicable to Medicaid plans), as a professional time commitment has been set aside especially for you.

Do you offer free consultation?

Yes, I do offer free 15 min consultation phone or video call to answer any questions you may have, explain how I work and how I can help and for us to determine if it is a good fit.

What concerns do you help your clients with?

I primarily work with couples and individuals navigating relational distress, including but not limited to interpersonal and family conflicts, infidelity, betrayal, divorce, co-parenting challenges, life-changing experiences. Additionally, I support individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma, helping them find clarity and resilience in the face of life’s twists and turns.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Yes! I’m currently meeting clients in my office located in downtown McMinnville, OR, and I also provide telehealth sessions via Zoom for clients throughout the rest of Oregon.

How long is a therapy session?

Individual and couples sessions are 50–55 minutes in length. Longer sessions are available upon request and are prorated according to my current fee schedule.

How long will therapy take?

The length of therapy varies based on your unique needs and goals. Couples therapy is more structured and focused, as my goal is to help you communicate effectively. Arguments will always be part of any relationship—eliminating them isn’t the goal. Instead, I help you learn to disagree in a way that strengthens your bond, express and meet each other’s needs, and navigate difficult conversations. Once your relationship has the tools it needs to grow, you’ll be ready to move forward. Individual therapy is tailored to your personal goals, and the duration is up to you. However, most people find that at least six months of therapy provides meaningful progress and lasting change.

Do you work with children?

No. I only work couples and adult individuals. While therapy can effectively assist a child in managing challenges, I believe the best long-term approach is to focus on the caregivers. They are the primary source of support for children and consistently present in their lives.
